Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services Standards (CLAS) - are the Standards that address the need for sensitivity and awareness in the provision of health care services to culturally and ethnically diverse populations and communities. Established by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Minority Health, these standards serve as guidance to health care providers, policymakers, legislative officials, health commissions, etc., in developing responsive and effective health care programs in culturally and ethnically diverse populations and communities while maintaining high degrees of quality health care that is provided in a culturally and linguistically sensitive atmosphere. To download a copy of the Standards, visit the OMHC's webpage at http://www.omhc.gov/clas/ds.htm.
