Community Action Model

Welcome to the CAM Model

How to Use the Curriculum

This curriculum and model represent the work of health educators and community organizers from many different countries around the world. It was consolidated over time through the efforts of the San Francisco Department of Public Health health educators who provide trainings on the Community Action Model (CAM), as well as consultation to groups using the model on a range of health issues.

The CAM curriculum has been placed on the web to provide access to activities designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed for health advocacy, policy development, and working in groups. In "Introduction to the Community Action Model, CAM" you will find an overview of the five steps which are the foundation of the model. The activities in the curriculum expand on these five steps.

We have tried to make access to this curriculum as user friendly as possible. Each activity contains: the lesson plan, lesson notes, supportive activity sheets, and cards that you will need. A brief description of each of the activities is included in the table of contents below. Once you have identified the activities you would like to use, you can simply print them and/or save them on your hard drive or disc.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to be able to open this curriculum.
