Supplemental Nutrition Program
Program Description
WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have recently had a baby, infants, and children under five years of age. The WIC Program provides supplemental foods (such as milk, cheese, cereal, eggs, beans, peanut butter, and juice), breastfeeding and nutrition education, and referral to health care.
Population Served
To be eligible for WIC, families must meet income eligibility guidelines, live in San Francisco, and have a nutritional or medical risk as documented by a health care provider.
Other Information
A person interested in participating in WIC must bring to the WIC clinic a medical referral form filled out by her/his doctor, proof of income such as a check stub, proof of address such as a utility bill, and identification such as California ID.
