San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center
Birth Center: Registered Nurse Training Program
At San Francisco General Hospital we seek dedicated and motivated individuals to join our team. As a public hospital we take pride in serving those in San Francisco County. The perinatal unit consists of seven labor and delivery rooms, 7 postpartum rooms (2 are private), a 4-bed triage, and a Level III NICU. There are 2 operating room suites.
Labor and Delivery Training:
The purpose of the Birth Center Unit Training Program is to prepare the Registered Nurse so that s/he may provide safe and competent nursing care to the patient in the acute care perinatal setting. Senior nurses, mentors, and preceptors will support you throughout training. Orientation is intensive and lasts from 12-14 weeks. Training consists of didactic classes taught by the CNS as well as guest lecturers. Our perinatal CNS has over 10 years of experience working with this population and has a strong research and educational background.
We are the only place in the San Francisco Bay Area to have comprehensive midwifery ie from prenatal care through delivery and postpartum AND that for high risk pregnancies we provide care by UCSF experts in complicated obstetrics.
