Trauma Brain Injury Program

The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program was created to optimize care for patients with serious brain injuries. This program creates a continuum of care for these patients - from life-saving efforts in the Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, and Intensive Care Unit,  to maximizing the patient's day-to-day ability to function through rehabilitative care. Elements of the program include around-the-clock attending neurosurgeon coverage to respond to all major resuscitations, continuity of care, and neuro-psychologist consults. These efforts result in decreased length of stay in critical care and advances in recovery of patients in acute units. The program staff include two nurse practitioners and a neuroscience clinical nurse specialist to provide continuity of care.

TBI Program Staff

  • Neurosurgery Attending Physician: Geoff Manley, MD
  • Director for Rehabilitation Services, TBI Program Project Leader: Bonnie Seaman, PT, MA
  • Neurosurgeon Nurse Practitioners: Twyila Lay, RN, MS, ACNP and Ryan Gustafson, RN, MS, NP
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist: Christine Martin, RN
