Vital Records

The DPH's Office of Vital Records is San Francisco's official keeper of birth and death records within the City and County since April of 1906. The Office's other services include providing copies of records, making corrections and name changes, non-hospital birth registration, and passport information.

Massage Licensing Program

Beginning July 1, 2004, a new ordinance  allows the Department of Public Health Environmental Health Section to:

• License and regulate massage practitioners and businesses.
• Conduct annual inspections of massage establishments
• Inspect all new massage establishments and change of ownerships
• Respond to citizen complaints  regarding unsanitary conditions
• review and approve plans for new construction or major remodeling

Research and Data

With online archives reaching back to the 1990s, the DPH's Health Assessments and Data archive provide public access to a wide range of information, assessments, and reports, including AIDS surveillance, program status and studies, profiles, and results.
