Large studies in progress

COSMOS

Cosmos is a cohort study of mobile phone use and health. The study will investigate the possible health effects of long term use of mobile phones and other wireless technologies. It is an international study being conducted in five European countries United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands and France. The study will follow at least 200,000 participants for 20 – 30 years.

National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS)

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) headquartered at NIEHS is leading the largest laboratory rodent study to date on cell phone radio frequency. The NTP studies will help clarify any potential health hazards from exposure to cell phone radiation. The studies are designed to mimic human exposure and are based on the frequencies and modulations currently in use in the United States.

The NIEHS is also funding researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles, to study whether exposure to cell phones in childhood can affect the nervous system.
