Community-Based Traffic Safety Projects

 

The Department of Public Health provides mini-grants to community-based organizations in order to conduct pedestrian and traffic safety projects in their neighborhoods.  Program staff from the Department of Public Health provide ongoing education, training, and technical assistance to all participating community-based organizations and community residents.

2001 Pedestrian Safety Projects

In May 2001, the Department of Public Health funded four community-based organizations to do pedestrian safety projects in their neighborhoods:

  1. Chinatown Transportation Research and Improvement Project
  2. Oceanview, Merced Heights, Ingleside - Neighbors in Action
  3. Walk San Francisco
  4. William R. De Avila Elementary School Parent Teacher Association

2002 Traffic Safety Projects

In February 2002, the Department of Public Health funded eleven community-based organizations to do traffic safety projects in their neighborhoods from March through December 2002.

  4. Network for Elders
  5. Park Presidio Neighbors
  6. Rose Resnick LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired

  9. Senior Action Network
  10. Walk San Francisco
  11. Wu Yee Children's Services

2003 Traffic Safety Projects

In January 2003, the Department of Public Health funded ten community-based organizations to do traffic safety projects in their neighborhoods from February through November 2003.

2004 DUI Prevention Projects

In February 2004, the Department of Public Health funded four community-based organizations to do DUI prevention projects in their neighborhoods from March through December 2004.

  3. Potrero Hill Neighborhood House
  4. Real Alternatives Program Collaborative

In December 2004, the Department of Public Health funded four community-based organizations to do DUI prevention projects in their neighborhoods from January through October 2005.

In September 2005, the Department of Public Health funded four community-based organizations to do pedestrian safety projects in their neighborhoods from October 2005 through July 2006.

2006 Child Passenger Safety Projects

In January 2006, the Department of Public Health funded four community-based organizations to do child passenger safety projects in their neighborhoods from February 2006 through November 2006.

  4. Women's Health Center

2007 Child Passenger Safety Projects

In December 2006, the Department of Public Health funded four community-based organizations to do child passenger safety projects in their neighborhoods from December 2006 through September 2007.
