Support our Healthy Food Pantry

The beauty of the Healthy Food Pantry program at Southeast Health Center (SEHC) is that it has a direct impact on San Francisco: 100% of the funds go to serve the community. In the month of April 2009, we served more than 100 families every single week. Although we have been successful in recruiting volunteers to help run the pantry each week, an ongoing challenge is raising money.

Our goal is to serve up to 150 families per week.  That means we need to raise less than $200 per week or about $10,000 to provide a substantial amount of food for 150 struggling people and families for an entire year. Thankfully, the food is inexpensive; the San Francisco Food Bank provides about one bag of groceries per person/family for free. After that, cereals, grains, fruits and vegetables are 18 cents per pound.

Food PantryWe estimate that $1.25 per family per week can provide each family with two full bags of fresh food.  This means $1.25 can feed a local family for a week, $25 can feed 20 families, $50 can feed 40 families, and $100 can feed 80 families for a week!
