Understand which type of mobile food facility (MFF) you have

Mobile food facilities are placed into one of 5 classifications.

There are 5 different types, or "classifications" of mobile food facilities.

Mobile food facility 1 (MFF1) 

  • Sells prepackaged and not potentially hazardous foods
  • Example: prepackaged pastries, chips, candies, canned sodas, donuts

Mobile food facility 2 (MFF2) 

  • Sells prepackaged and potentially hazardous foods
  • Example: prepackaged sandwiches, pasta, or cold noodles

Mobile food facility 3 (MFF3)

  • Sells non-prepackaged and not potentially hazardous foods
  • Example: non-prepackaged churros, salted bagels, cotton candy, or ice shavings

Mobile food facility 4 (MFF4)

  • Sells non-prepackaged, potentially hazardous foods, with limited food preparation
  • Example: hot dogs, tamales, or coffee

Mobile food facility 5 (MFF5)

  • Sells non-prepackaged, potentially hazardous foods, with full food prepping and cooking
  • Example: tacos, burritos, falafel, crepes, and curry
