Resolution:

Supporting the Department of Public Health's FY 1998-2001 Comprehensive Tobacco Control Plan and Budget, April 7, 1998

WHEREAS, the City and County of San Francisco has been allocated $2,377,000 by the State Department of Health Services for FY 1998-2001 for tobacco control based on Proposition 99's Tobacco Tax Surtax Funding; and,

WHEREAS, tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death; and,

WHEREAS, the State Department of Health has issued guidelines and set three priority areas to address tobacco's impact on the public health; and,

WHEREAS, a 1998-2001 Comprehensive Tobacco Control Plan and Budget has been prepared by the Department of Public Health in accordance with State guidelines; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Health Commission supports the Department's fiscal year 1998-2001 Comprehensive Tobacco Control Plan and Budget.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was adopted by the Health Commission at its meeting of Tuesday, April 7, 1998.
