Resolution: No. 5-04

Honoring Public Health Week, April 5 - 11, 2004

WHEREAS, the San Francisco Department of Public Health is committed to promoting the health of all San Franciscans; and,

WHEREAS, nationally and locally there persists ethnic, racial, gender, sexual orientation, and age disparities in health and life expectancy; and,

WHEREAS, the San Francisco Department of Public Health is committed to addressing, reducing, and eliminating all health disparities that affect San Franciscans; and,

WHEREAS, the first week of April is celebrated as “National Public Health Week” in 21 states including California; and,

WHEREAS, the focus of 2004 National Public Health Week is to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health and life expectancy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Health Commission recognizes the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s work addressing health disparities and its commitment to promoting the health of all San Franciscans and celebrates those efforts during National Public Health Week, April 5 - 11, 2004

I hereby certify that the San Francisco Health Commission at its meeting of April 6, 2004 adopted the foregoing resolution.
