Jeremy's EMS career started as a freshman at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There, he worked at campus events as an EMT and eventually instructed the EMT class. On vacations, he would return to his hometown of Chicago and work for a private ambulance company. After graduating college with a psychology degree, he then completed medical school and emergency medicine residency training at Midwestern University in Chicago before moving to San Francisco to pursue an EMS fellowship at UCSF.
