Solid Waste Program

The Solid Waste Program regulates refuse collection and solid waste sites to protect public health, safety and well-being of our communities and environment from the impacts of solid waste management and disposal.

Refuse Collection License and Permit

The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) introduced the draft Refuse Regulation governing the licensing and permitting for refuse collections within the City and County of San Francisco to the full Health Commission on December 7, 2021. Prior to finalizing the Refuse Regulation, SFDPH considered public comments on the draft rules that were submitted during the comment period ending on December 29, 2021. The revised Refuse Regulation will be presented to the full Health Commission for adoption on February 15, 2022, please visit the Health Commission website for meeting details.
